Our Staff


Medowie Gumnut Preschool has achieved several awards since its establishment in 1992. We have been awarded “2014 Trainee of the Year in Children’s Services”, overall “Trainee of The Year – Hunter Region”, and runner up for “2016 Trainee of the Year – Children’s Services”. Gumnuts has also been given an award for the “Small Green Steps” for Sustainability Program – Level 3.

Sharon Hales
Director & Educational Leader
Sharon holds a Bachelor of Education. She is a mother of 2, enjoys horse riding, the beach, camping, photography, boating and snow skiing. With over 27 years of teaching experience, she is the Owner/Director of Medowie Gumnut Preschool.
Mikaylah | Medowie Gumnut Preschool
Mikaylah Hales
Mikaylah holds a Certificate 3 and Diploma in Child Care. She values acceptance, a sense of belonging for each child, play, as an integral part of early childhood learning to develop the whole child, potential of each child and staff, partnerships with families, staff and our community.  
Kirstin | Medowie Gumnut Preschool
Kirstin Walker
Kirstin holds a Certificate 3 in Children Services and is currently studying her Diploma of Children's Services. She likes to create a fun, exciting, mind stimulating, safe and caring atmosphere for each child and believes the most important years of a child's life is 0-5.
Kylie | Medowie Gumnut Preschool
Kylie Hayter
Kylie holds a Certificate 3 and Diploma in Child Care. She has a 7 year old son and has lived in Medowie for the past 25 years. She enjoys spending time with her son, going on crazy adventures, and loves the colour pink.
Sheree Coles
Educator and Trainee
Sheree is currently studying as a Trainee to complete her Certificate 3 in Children's Services. She believes that all children are all special in their own way and values the need for children to feel safe and important.
Bianca Farley
Educator and Trainee
Bianca is currently studying as a Trainee to complete her Certificate 3 in Children's Services.  She believes that children have the right to a caring environment and should be treated equally regardless of their background, gender, ability or culture.
